RMAP: Sustainability Blueprint & Grant Application

Communities over 50,000 citizens are required by law to have Metropolitan Planning Organizations to plan and coordinate decisions regarding transportation systems and related issues, all of which are critically important to quality of life. The Rockford Region’s Sustainability Blueprint, designed and co-written by GrahamSpencer, set the stage for future Rockford Region success, served as a key policy statement for all future programs involving Federal funding and was used as grant application for a HUD Sustainability grant. In October, 2010, RMAP was notified that the Blueprint had been awarded a $600,000 HUD Sustainable Communities Grant. Not a bad return on investment for what began as a simple design and policy positioning statement.
