RMTD: Rolling Out Free Ride & U-Pass to Keep Students Moving Forward

At GrahamSpencer, we’ve been proud partners of Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) for years, striving to drive positive change and a strengthened brand with every mile.

Our journey with RMTD began in 2016, when we set out to completely redesign its then-tired website. The result of our deliberate design/build process was a sleek, user-friendly new site featuring the nation’s first-ever live integration of Google Transit’s GTFS feed – bringing real-time bus tracking straight to RMTD’s passengers’ fingertips.

Then, in 2019, we followed up with a bold, research-backed redesign of the RMTD brand, forging a fresher, more recognizable, and definitely more periwinkle blue brand identity for the future. The project included a total website reskin. And, let’s not forget those smooth, silent, hybrid-electric and electric busses you see cruising the streets today! Our dynamic, periwinkle fleet marking designs ensure these eco-friendly busses make a striking statement: you might not hear them, but you can’t miss them. The Big Blue fleet is more than just transit – it’s a symbol of clean, green progress gliding throughout town.

Perhaps our proudest collaboration with RMTD has been helping empower students through the District’s generous 2022 Free Ride and 2023 U-Pass programs. These initiatives provide no-cost and low-cost transportation to students – from grade schoolers to college-goers – transporting them to school, jobs, medical appointments and wherever else life takes them.
