Connecting The Dots: Collins Aerospace The Grid Video

In 2019/2020, GS was chosen by the Rockford Area Economic Development Council and Collins Aerospace to make two versions of one video about Collins’ groundbreaking state-of-the-art, 25,000 square-foot test lab called The Grid located in Rockford, Illinois.

The Grid is where the future of electric-powered aerospace will be substantially developed and tested. With its early development stalled by COVID, The Grid will be fully operational in 2023.  At that time, Collins plans to conduct future testing of its standard-setting new 1 MW electric motor designed for Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Regional Hybrid-Electric Flight Demonstrator. The company’s hybrid-electric propulsion technologies will play a key role in helping the aviation industry achieve its stated goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

GrahamSpencer was pleased to put our storytelling skills to the test to detail the inspiring story of The Grid’s purpose and development – and how Collins’ officials believe Rockford, Illinois was the perfect place to design and build the future of electric aerospace propulsion. We created on video for use by the RAEDC and another for Collins Aerospace’s Corporate Communications department.
