Rock River Anything That Floats Race: Damn The Torpedoes! Full Speed Ahead!

When Jay Graham joined the Steering Committee of the newly resurrected Rock River Anything That Floats Race in 2016, it was just a matter of time before GrahamSpencer’s team would be all hands on deck alongside him.

We created and launched the new brand identity and did three successive and successful years of advertising campaigns and more – work that can be seen in an earlier GS Case Study here on our website.

Like many repeating events and promotions, the annual challenge for our creative team is to generate an exciting new theme – something fresh to spark the imaginations of old and new participants – and to pique the interest of sponsors and spectators, as well. Last year’s effort won several awards at the American Advertising Federation ADDYs (as did the first two years’), so the creative bar was set high for the 2019 campaign.

The whimsical, colorful photo-illustrations, designed to reinforce the “anything that floats” theme, were a big hit. Despite heavy rain and high winds the morning of the race, the skies cleared, the racers raced and smiling spectators showed by the thousands. A good time was had by all.
We could not be prouder to volunteer alongside our hard-working and creative race committee shipmates from Prairie Street Brewing Co, the Rockford Park District, Midwest Family Broadcasting, the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Fourth of July Committee and Metro Medical Services. We’re already looking forward to the challenge of growing this wonderful community event again next year.

Speaking of next year… How about you and your company? If you live in the Rockford Region and are interested in participating in the race or becoming a sponsor, please send us an email. We’ll be happy to show you the ropes:-).
